Roman Philosophy

Roman Art
- In Ancient Rome they mostly painted on wood.
- Much of the Art was about the human body.
- Romans also painted animals, still life, and everyday life scenes.
- They painted peoples portraits because they believed that having a well done picture of a person who had died kept them happy.The rulers of Ancient Rome would have people paint huge murals that cover all of the walls or roofs of their palaces.
- A painting style example would be Pompeian style, in which you were painting a mural of someone.
- Roman art was unproportional and not as perfect as Greece's art. For example, the nose of the sculpture might look bigger than the actual size of the nose.
Roman Art

- The painting above, under ''Roman Art'' is called Aeneas . After fighting in the Rituli tribe Aeneas was wounded. The god Venus watches as the doctors mends Aeneas's wound. This was a wall painting.
Roman Drama
- The Golden Age of Roman Drama dates back to B.C 24o, when Livius Andronicus - Titus Livy- adapted a greek comedy and tragedy for performance.
- Gnaeus Naevius was the first native Roman dramatist, he served in the First Punic War, he wrote plays on Roman Themes, and is the inventor of the roman historical play. ''fabula praetexta''
- Naevius was an epic poet and a dramatist.
- Roman Drama included tragedy and comedy.
